Hey there,

I started Truemind with a conviction that mental health support must be accessible, honest, and grounded in rigorous psychological science.

Several years ago, I lived through severe depression, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and suicidal ideation during a time and in a context where reliable mental health support was scarce. Struggling to access therapy turned me toward my own mind. I leaned on what I could find — evidence-based psychology, psychoeducation, and first-person accounts from people who had walked similar ground. Slowly, I stabilised. Slowly, I rebuilt a sense of meaning.

Over time, I saw that recovery rests on hope, choice, connection, and dignity. That lived experience profoundly shaped the clinical work I chose to pursue.

I completed my master's in psychology at Birkbeck, University of London, accredited by the British Psychological Society, and completed clinical training at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. In our sessions, you can expect an authentic conversation free of jargon, judgment, or invalidating cheerleading.

“In India, mental health conversations require a pragmatic approach to understand and process emotions, not deep philosophical paradoxes nor invalidating resilience-building pep talks. Therapeutic space is here to develop understanding of external reality and internal experience — honest enough to let you belong to your own experience.”

Frequently asked questions.

Important details regarding low-intensity counselling, how sessions are structured, fees, confidentiality, and what to expect.

Low-intensity counselling is an active, structured, evidence-based therapeutic approach designed to help individuals understand and manage mild-to-moderate psychological difficulties. Rather than open-ended reflection alone, sessions combine empathetic listening with psychoeducation, cognitive reframing (CBT), psychological flexibility exercises (ACT), and compassion-focused strategies (CFT). You walk away with concrete, practical tools to apply in your day-to-day life.
The first session is a dedicated 60-minute consultation. We use this time to explore what is currently bringing you to therapy, review your background and history, identify your personal goals, and ensure that our therapeutic approach and working dynamic are a mutually good fit. Follow-up sessions are 55 minutes, scheduled weekly or fortnightly.
The standard session fee is ₹1,500 (inclusive of applicable taxes) for both the 60-minute initial consultation and 55-minute follow-up sessions. Payment is completed securely before the session via UPI, Net Banking, or card payment link, and an official digital invoice is provided. A limited number of sliding-scale and low-cost slots are reserved for students or individuals experiencing financial hardship (please email to inquire).
Yes, absolutely. The practice is completely bilingual in English and Tamil. Many clients find that expressing nuanced emotions, family dynamics, or deep distress in their native language avoids the emotional barrier of translation. You are welcome to speak entirely in Tamil, entirely in English, or seamlessly switch between both during our conversations.
Yes. Strict confidentiality is the bedrock of our practice. Everything discussed in session, including clinical notes and contact information, is protected under ethical standards and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act). The only exceptions to confidentiality occur under rare, legally mandated circumstances: imminent danger to your life or another person's life, child protection (POCSO Act), or direct orders from a court of law.
No. In India, psychiatric medication can only be prescribed by a medical doctor or psychiatrist. Psychological counselling focuses on psychological, behavioural, and emotional intervention through talk therapy. If you are already taking medication prescribed by a psychiatrist, counselling works collaboratively alongside your medical treatment. Where medication may be beneficial, an appropriate referral to a trusted psychiatrist will be discussed.
Sessions take place over Zoho Meeting via an encrypted video link sent to your email upon booking. You do not need to install complex software; it opens seamlessly in your browser or phone. You will need a reliable internet connection, a quiet and private space where you cannot be overheard, and headphones for acoustic privacy. Sessions are never recorded.
Sessions may be cancelled or rescheduled without charge with more than 48 hours' notice. For cancellations made between 24 and 48 hours in advance, a 50% refund is provided. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice or missed appointments (no-shows) forfeit the session fee, as that dedicated hour cannot be reallocated to another client. Full details are outlined in our Refund Policy and Service Framework.
